- It is always the best policy to have open communication with your high school counselor before taking any courses outside of your regular, full-time school.
- For students who work well independently, Tilden offers full-semester courses in 15 hours for regular courses and 25 hours for Advanced Placement courses.
“I highly recommend Tilden... Our son completed his AP Chemistry class there during the summer - a very challenging course - and had a great experience. He is now finishing his senior year and has been accepted to the four colleges he has applied to”
Vacations, Absences and Cancellations During Summer School
We do our best to accommodate vacations and cancellations while also ensuring that our teachers’ schedules are consistent. For this reason, we allow classes to be canceled before the start of class within the summer session with a reduced charge. To notify us that a student will be absent, parents are required to email the student’s teacher(s) and the campus administration before the start time of a scheduled class in order to avoid full charges. Students may not cancel their own classes. Email only (not a phone call) from a parent is required for all cancellations.
To report a cancellation, please contact your campus’ administration at the following address:
Though our instruction is primarily one-to-one, we offer parents the option of coordinating small group classes of 2-3 students per group. When arranging a group class, please account for the following factors:
1. Learning pace and style of all students in the group
Students should have similar working styles and pace of learning in order to progress through the material effectively. Tilden Prep reserves the right to split up students if the instructor feels that they are not working well together, or if one student is struggling to keep pace with another.
2. Schedule availability of all students in the group
All students must be on the same class schedule, and must coordinate any planned absences or vacations in advance to coincide with each other.
